This unique national monument is a landmark building on the Zaan River and is part of the Industrial Heritage of The Netherlands. Originally built in 1858 as a soap factory, De Adelaar (The Eagle) was carefully restored in 2005. While respecting its industrial character, the building was given a new purpose and subsequently served as the stylish headquarters of the fashion brand Vanilia for 20 years.
The building, with a floor area of 3,645 m², is situated on 2,958 m² of private land next to the Zaan River, opposite the Zaanse Schans. It has 45 parking spaces on site, a roof garden, and a private jetty with mooring space for several boats.
In 2005, the building was equipped with an atrium with a new industrial glass canopy, new emergency staircases, a passenger elevator, central heating, a hydrophore system, an alarm system, sprinklers, sensor-controlled lighting in authentic industrial fixtures, a restaurant with a kitchen, a pantry, restrooms, a boathouse, a roof garden, and a rear loading and unloading area.
Due to the closure of Vanilia's operations, De Adelaar has become available for a new tenant.
Estadium is advising the owner on finding a new use for De Adelaar. Both lease and purchase options are negotiable.
